๐ Live identity verification for high-value rentals โ For higher-value items, renters are required to complete Persona live ID verification โ a real-time match of a government-issued ID and a live selfie. This keeps the community safe for everyone.
๐ Encrypted in-app messaging โ All communications between renters and owners are securely stored within the platform. Your personal contact information is never shared directly with owners.

What Is NOT Covered by the Renters Protection Program?
The Renters Protection Program protects your payment and your rental experience. It does not function as personal property insurance for the renter. The following are not covered:

๐ Personal injury sustained during use of a rented item
๐ Public or product liability of any kind
๐ Losses arising from renter misuse, negligence, or violation of the rental terms

๐ Transactions completed off-platform, including cash, e-transfer, or any payment method outside of Stripe
๐ Loss of income or consequential damages arising from a rental not fulfilling its intended purpose
If you carry personal, home, tenant, or business insurance, check with your provider โ many policies can extend to cover items you are temporarily renting from others.
How Your Payment Is Protected
RentAnythingStore.com uses a full escrow payment model powered by Stripe. Here is exactly how it works:
๐ When you submit a booking request, a pre-authorization is placed on your card. You are not charged yet.
๐ If the owner declines your request, the pre-authorization is released immediately. No charge appears.
๐ If the owner accepts, the pre-authorization converts to a charge on the rental start date.
๐ Your payment is held in escrow and is not released to the owner until the rental is complete.
๐ If an issue arises โ item significantly not as described, owner no-show, or condition dispute โ contact support before accepting the item. Doing so preserves your ability to dispute the transaction.
Never pay an owner outside of the platform. Off-platform payments void all protections.
How Owner Verification Works
Before any owner can receive payment on RentAnythingStore.com, they must pass a multi-layer verification process:

Renter Responsibilities
The Renters Protection Program operates on the assumption of good-faith participation from both parties. To remain covered:
๐ Complete all payments through the RentAnythingStore.com platform โ never off-platform.
๐ Document the item's condition with photos at pickup and return.
๐ Report any issue โ damage, discrepancy, or concern โ to both the owner and RentAnythingStore.com support immediately. Do not use an item you believe is misrepresented and then dispute later.
๐ Return the item on time and in the condition it was received.
๐ Do not attempt to repair damage yourself โ contact support first.
๐ Communicate only through the platform messaging system so there is a documented record if a dispute arises.
What to Do If Something Goes Wrong
Item significantly not as described: Do not use the item. Document with photos immediately. Our team will assess the situation and determine whether a full or partial refund is appropriate.
Owner no-show: Contact support immediately. You will receive a full refund, and our team will actively work to source a replacement item through our supply partner network.
Item damaged during rental: Contact the owner and support immediately. Do not attempt to conceal or repair the damage yourself. Prompt communication consistently leads to better outcomes for both parties.
Dispute over security deposit: Deposit deductions must be itemized by the owner with documentation. If you believe a deduction is unfair, open a dispute through the platform. Our Resolution Team will review the documented condition of the item at pickup and return.
Fraud Prevention
RentAnythingStore.com takes fraudulent activity by renters and owners equally seriously.
Renters who attempt to misuse the platform โ including submitting false dispute claims, misrepresenting intended use, or deliberately damaging items โ will face denial of protections, demand for full compensation, permanent account suspension, and referral to law enforcement where applicable.
